Welcome to my Journal

The world is changing at breakneck speed. New tech drops feels like every half hour, development cycles are ridiculously short, and political and climate events are constantly spiraling over each other.

In a world that’s (let’s call it) "super dynamic," it’s especially crucial to at least try to keep a bird's-eye view and make sensible, logical decisions. But in this (heads up, buzzword incoming!) VUCA world (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity) or BANI world (Brittle, Anxious, Non-linear, Incomprehensible), that’s getting harder by the day. Luckily, there are a few approaches to get a handle on it: Simulation modeling is one of those great methods to find a potential answer to our dynamic world; or at the very least, it usually does a way better job than something like Excel.

Simulations, Digital Twins, Data Analytics — all great buzzwords

In many fields, people have already heard of Simulations and Digital Twins. If not, they might at least have a rough idea of what those could be. Especially if you caught the last Hannover Messe 2026, you probably walked away thinking, "Whoa, this is the next big thing!" You see impressive 3D worlds, colorful dashboards, and shiny cars. As a result, terms like simulations and digital twins enter everyone’s everyday vocabulary... assuming that whatever they saw on screen is what those words actually mean in their own heads.

Speaking from experience, though, I can (unfortunately) say two things with relative certainty:

  • Most people have the wrong idea of what simulations and digital twins "really" are and what they’re actually used for.
  • The assumption that this is "the hot new thing" is surprisingly widespread, especially among non-experts — which simply isn't true.

And hey, that’s totally fine and not the end of the world. However, this blog is meant for those who are genuinely interested in these topics, or those who are actively building and experimenting in the field themselves. In a world like the one described above, it’s just awesome to have options that help with risk management and decision-making... or at the very least, help boost your understanding.

So, here’s what I’ll be posting: field reports, news, tutorials, and updates. A bit of theory will probably sneak in here and there too.

Hope you enjoy reading!
